I won’t be the first to tell you, branding isn’t my thing. Marketing and I don’t mix, and I’m still trying to master good communication skills.
Picking a name for this blog was difficult. I’ve always had a hard time naming things…our wireless network, our puppy, and eventually a kid. Naming just isn’t my thing, especially when that name is also a brand.
After talking with a few friends and really thinking about it, I picked An Altered Reality.

I’ve come to the realization that my views aren’t the norm. My views are, at times, altered and non-conformed – and that is the reality I find myself in.
I try my hardest to deviate from what the “norm” is. I don’t like doing the expected, nor do I like feeling predictable.
My original intent was for this to be a more personal blog, but I decided against that. I think that I’m better at more technical styled writing than journaling.
Who wants to read a journal anyway?
I love to write about blogging, WordPress, MySQL, and other random bits and pieces of what I come across on the web, so that’s what I’m going to do and where this blog is going.
I tried all this before, but I was young and didn’t understand all that I do now.
I didn’t understand Linux, MySQL, or…well, any other key piece of a blog.
I didn’t know how to brand (I still don’t), I didn’t know how to grab traffic (that’s still hard), and I invested into what became ultimately nothing! …and it sucked.
A few years later, I think I’ve finally gotten to the point where I can do those things and be somewhat successful (there’s a future post for ya!).
I’m looking forward to the journey, and this time, I’m glad I’m not alone!
